Retail ration dealers were reluctant to engage in kerosene distribution considering the steep transportation charges and negligible commission.
However, those whose houses are yet to be electrified will continue to get the three-month allocation of six litres.
This is the second straight year that Kerala is facing the blow as the Centre had cut down the kerosene supplies last year also.
Kerosene was selling for Rs 84 a litre in May, which was increased by Rs 4 to Rs 88 in June. This was now further hiked by Rs 14 a litre.
The basic price of one kilo litre (1000 litres) of kerosene has gone up to Rs.77,300 from Rs. 72,832.
