Hello
The security breach will be a headache for the organisers, especially in the time of the pandemic.
The government has filed the appeal challenging the Kerala High Court which dismissed the plea on October 19 on the grounds that it was directed against the privatization policy of the Centre and hence devoid of merits.
The government plans to argue in the apex court that since it has made investments including acquiring land for the airport, the right of operation be handed over to the state.
The petition was filed after an all-party meet, held on August 20, decided to move a resolution against the Centre's decision, and to demand its withdrawal.
The Centre stressed that the move to lease out six airports, including Thiruvanathapuram, through public-private partnership was a policy decision which could not be questioned by the petitioner.
The meeting was convened as per the practice of holding discussions with the MPs ahead of Parliament sessions on issues that need to be raised.
Puri's remarks come at a time when the Kerala government has opposed the Union Cabinet's approval on August 19 to lease out the Thiruvananthapuram airport to Adani Enterprises under the public-private partnership (PPP) model for a period of 50 years.
Considering an application by the Kerala government seeking the stay, the court adjourned the case for detailed hearing.
The company said the Adani Group had their legal support team and the bid amount quoted by the Government of Kerala was confidential till the bids were made public.
Paridhi Adani, the wife of Gautam Adani’s son Karan, is a partner of the legal consultant firm appointed by the Kerala government for the bidding process of the management and operations of the Trivandrum airport.
