Earlier, the IMD had forecast onset over Kerala on May 27 with help from remnants of Cyclone Asani that struck the Bay of Bengal a fortnight ago.
The IMD had declared the onset of monsoon over Andaman and Nicobar Islands on May 16.
Advance of the monsoon over Kerala is being continuously monitored, the IMD said.
Meanwhile, the yellow alert for various districts till May 29 has been withdrawn by the IMD.
The weather office has sounded a yellow alert for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki and Kozhikode on Wednesday.
Various districts will be under yellow alert during the five-day period. Fishermen have been advised against going into the sea.
The public have been advised against visiting beaches, going to sea for fun. Fishermen have also been directed to keep off the seas until further instruction.
