Hello
England's Keith Fletcher and Indian batting maestro Gundappa Viswanath enthralled the spectators with their strokeplay in two Tests at Chennai in the 1970s.
"Wrist Assured: An Autobiography" details the path traversed by Viswanath from Bangalore where he started playing the game using a tennis ball, to become one of the best batsmen in the world.
One hopes Iyer chooses to emulate Viswanath and turns out to be the bedrock of the Indian middle order this decade.
Sheer statistics would never convey his greatness as Viswanath’s genius was beyond mere numbers.
It would be interesting to see how the career of these four players, who were unfortunate to have been blooded into international cricket during this disastrous tour, progressed during the years after that.
