Hello
The right of autonomy over one's body is often denied to women and they are bullied, discriminated against, isolated and persecuted for making choices about their bodies and lives, the court said.
According to the affidavit submitted by the State, Rehana violated the bail conditions several times and re-circulated posts that hurt religious sentiments.
The allegation against Fathima, who made an attempt to enter the hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa in Sabarimala in 2018, is that she asked her children, a boy and girl aged 14 and 8 respectively to paint on her semi-nude body.
Fathima, a former BSNL employee hailing from Kochi, had hit the headlines in October 2018 when she was forced to abandon her plan to pray at the Sabarimala temple.
The police raided her house, an official accommodation of BSNL, after a case was registered under POCSO for making her minor children paint on her naked body and posting the video of the same on social media.
In her bail plea, the activist said the allegations prima facie would not constitute any offence punishable which are non-bailable in nature.
The police registered the case against her under the Information Technology Act and the Juvenile Justice Act on a complaint lodged by BJP OBC Morcha leader A V Arun Prakash on Tuesday.
The court has directed her not to put up any social media posts that could hurt religious sentiments.
On December 14, a protest gathering would be organised in Kozhikode and on December 15, a similar gathering would be organised in Ernakulam.
