In the Peravoor constituency, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is positioning K. K. Shailaja as their candidate to challenge the incumbent and KPCC president Sunny Joseph, who has been victorious since 2011. Onmanorama will track the race in 12 closely fought constituencies including Peravoor, capturing the ground-level pulse with poll meter updates every few days.
Though labelled as a UDF pocket borough, Peravoor back then was never quite like the neighbouring Irikkur, which returned K C Joseph eight times.
K K Shailaja will contest from Peravoor, setting up a high-stakes clash with Sunny Joseph in the upcoming assembly elections.
Satheesan said the UDF had not completed its seat-sharing discussions yet.
