COVID effect: IITs, NITs opt for online reporting for admissions

It’s the time of the admissions to the various BTech, BE, BArch, B-Planning, five-year MTech/MSc and four-year BS programmes in the IITs, NITs, IIITs and other institutions in India with the final round of allotment being completed.

However, candidates can report online this time considering the COVID-19 situation. In other words, they need not personally appear for reporting.

Candidates who have been allotted a seat in the first to sixth rounds of allotments conducted by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) should pay the partial fees of Rs 40,000 through the JoSAA portal between November 1 and 6. Meanwhile, for candidates belonging to SC/ST and differently-abled categories, the fee is Rs 20,000. In case the fee is not paid, the allotted seat will get cancelled.

After the fee is paid, the candidates should check the website of the institution they have been allotted and report online. Subsequently, all admission procedures have to be carried out between November 16 and 21.

In case the candidates are interested, they can later take part in the CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) special round allotment. However, they have to check the refund rules of the institution where admission has been taken under JoSAA. Moreover, admissions are subjected to be automatically cancelled if students are allotted a seat in the CSAB.

Candidates who do not join any institution under JoSAA can register for the CSAB special round. After the allotment, they can join the allotted institution from November 25 to 30.
