Dubai to be a NEET centre, in addition to Kuwait

NEET exams
Applications to the NEET examination scheduled for September 12 is open till August 6.

Kottayam: The Ministry of Education announced on Thursday its decision to open a centre in Dubai for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examination. Earlier, Kuwait was the only overseas centre for the examination scheduled for September 12.

The order signed by Amit Khare, Secretary, Ministry of Education, says that "it has been decided by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to create one more centre city at Dubai in addition to the one already created at Kuwait city during the year 2021."

Parents and students based in gulf countries had filed a petition online requesting more overseas centres.

They had petitioned that considering the COVID-19 restrictions it was difficult for students in other gulf countries to travel to Kuwait or fly to India to attend the exams.

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar tweeted the order Thursday night. "Thank you to @narendramodi ji for listening to Indians overseas (especially south Indians) in the gulf and allocating #NEET centres in Dubai & Kuwait." Rajeev Chandrasekhar tweeted.
