Indian Navy's frontline frigate INS Tarkash has seized over 2,500 kgs of narcotics in the Western Indian Ocean.
The narcotics, valued at Rs 33 crore, were being smuggled to the Maldives.
The incident occurred at 12.10 pm when the ICG’s Advanced Light Helicopter, returning from a routine sortie, crashed while attempting to land on the runway of the Coast Guard airport on Sunday.
The seized contraband, valued at several crores of rupees in the international market, was packed in approximately 3,000 packets, each weighing 2 kg.
Despite attempts by the PMSA vessel to evade, the ICG ship intercepted it and successfully negotiated the release of the seven fishermen.
