Justice Bhatti is a senior judge with the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
He was speaking at the India Today Conclave, just hours after Law Minister Kiren Rijiju at the same forum criticised the selection process, asserting that as per Constitution the appointment of judges is the duty of the government.
The Centre on Saturday cleared the names that were recommended by the Collegium on December 13.
The top court was hearing a matter relating to an alleged delay by the Centre in clearing the names recommended by the collegium for appointment as judges to constitutional courts.
The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a plea seeking to disclose the details of a collegium meeting held on December 12, 2018 under the Right to Information Act.
Out of the 20 cases, 11 were fresh cases and nine were reiterations made by the top court collegium.
