Restrictions on eating or other daily activities during lunar eclipses stem from historical beliefs and traditions rooted in misunderstanding and viewing eclipses as omens, rather than from scientific evidence.
The eclipse will be visible across India tonight.
The first lunar eclipse of 2021 is going to happen during the early hours of May 26. But this is going to be an especially super lunar event, as it will be a supermoon, a lunar eclipse and a red blood moon all at once.
The totality phase will begin at 1 am on July 28.
Unlike solar eclipses, lunar eclipses can be seen with the naked eye.
The total eclipse will last 1 hour, 42 minutes and 57 seconds, though a partial eclipse precedes and follows.
Although it is a total eclipse, the moon will never go completely dark but rather take on a coppery red glow - called a blood moon.
