The KPCC chief wrote in his letter to the Congress supremo that KV Thomas had pre-planned his visit to Kannur.
The Tamil Nadu CM attacked the union government in his speech at the 23rd CPM Party Congress in Kannur; Congress leader KV Thomas defied his party to participate.
KPCC can only suggest a punishment for the veteran leader with the party High Command. Subsequently, the national disciplinary committee of the Congress, headed by A K Antony, will take a final decision.
The KPCC is reportedly keen to straightaway expel renegade senior party leader KV Thomas rather than serving him with a perfunctory suspension order if he attends the CPM seminar.
When asked whether he had plans to jump ship to CPM, he told the media to wait till Saturday and that he will answer every question at the seminar.
The opinion of AICC disciplinary committee chairman, AK Antony, is crucial even if the KPCC may endorse an outright expulsion. Ironically, Antony and Thomas were close associates earlier.
Those opposing BJP and communalism should stand together. Congress has its own limitations, Thomas said.
Senior Congress leader KV Thomas is keeping many in the party on their toes after he openly expressed his desire to attend a seminar on the sidelines of the CPM's 23rd Party Congress in Kannur.
Thomas is apparently eager to attend the seminar even after the Congress high command, upholding the state leadership's decision, barred him twice from going to the CPM event.
Earlier, the AICC had advised Shashi Tharoor and Thomas to abide by the decision of the KPCC on the issue.
