The festival of lights saw India glittering with diyas and lanterns. While Diwali was celebrated all around the country, the college union at LBS College of Engineering, Kasaragod, gave their students an opportunity to indulge in the celebrations with a programme dubbed Vidyut 2k18.
The programme started at 5.30 pm on November 7 and extended up till 7.30 pm. Hostellers as well as day-scholars were invited to take part in the diya-lighting ceremony. The Main Block of the campus became the venue for the inaugural party, where students had a hearty time holding little diyas and posing for photos.
The vast staircase at the administrative block was chock-a-block with cheerful students from all branches and religions.
Sky lanterns were released into the air, adorning the night sky over the college. Subsequently, the group moved on to the college ground to burst the inevitable crackers. Chakris and anaars were lighted, with special care to make them noise-free and avoid noise-pollution. Colourful lights spreading joy among the students brought forward the true spirit of Diwali in campus.
No festival is complete without a round of sweet delicacies. The event-organisers didn't miss the beat, and sure enough, distributed sweets among the students before they departed. By 7.30 pm, everyone took off to their hostels and homes, while the organisers stayed forth to clean up the remnants of the celebrations.
After the close-win at the elections this year, the UDSF party members have been regaling the students with festivals and cultural programmes. Notably, AAWAZ 2k18 is scheduled to be held on November 16. Actor Aju Varghese was expected as the chief guest, but due to some issues, he wouldn't be attending. Students are eagerly anticipating AAWAZ committee's next move to bring another celebrity to campus.
