New Delhi: The Central Government has allowed extension of the last date to complete the internship to appear for the upcoming NEET-PG exam to June 30, said official sources. Earlier, the National Board of Examinations had issued guidelines which said that candidates had to complete their internships by March 31.

However, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), resident doctors’ association and other organisations had approached the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare pointing out that internships will not be over by this cut-off date in many states. As a result, a large number of candidates would lose their chance to take NEET-PG this year, the organisations told the government.

However, a change in the internship date is likely to necessitate postponement of NEET-PG. Currently the entrance exam has been scheduled for March 5.
