A modern-day chef's life is often perceived as a balancing act between hectic work schedule and personal life. A chef has to master not just culinary arts but communication and coordination skills, leadership qualities and sometimes even good dancing skills!

On International Chefs Day (October 20), the chefs of the Zuri Kumarakom, Kerala Resort and Spa gave us a sneak peek into their work life and showed us what was really cooking in their kitchen.

As part of the celebrations, the team took the Jimikki Kammal dance challenge and absolutely nailed it. Executive chef Philemon Varghese has shared a video via YouTube, featuring the chefs dancing to the viral song in their kitchen and restaurant. The video has garnered many positive responses, with chefs from across the state sharing it on their social media platforms.

“International Chefs Day is considered to be a professional day of chefs all around the world. Usually, restaurants and chefs organize special activities, including cooking competitions, games, staff outings, cooking classes for children etc. Some hotels sum it up by simply cutting a cake. But we wanted to do something different, something special and that is how we came up with this idea,” chef Philemon said.

“I approached our general manager Sarat Valsraj with the idea and he was game for it. When I shared the idea with my teammates, they too were excited to do something innovative and trendy. And so, we picked a day and put on our dancing shoes, and had the experience of a lifetime,” he added.
