Special sambar

Sambar is a south Indian curry eaten along with breakfast and lunch. Whether it is idli, dosa, vada or rice, this Special sambar is the best combination you could try at home.

Ingredients
1 cup toor dal
2 drumsticks
4 green chillies ( split in halves )
1 onion
1 tbsp chilli powder
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tbsp cumin powder
1 tbsp turmeric powder
1tsp asafoetida
Salt as needed
1 bowl tamarind water

Preparation
Pour water in to the pressure cooker.
Add toor dal and turmeric powder into it.
Close the pressure cooker, wait for 2 whistles.
In a pan, pour tamarind water.
Add onions, drumsticks, and green chillies.
Boil for 5 minutes.
Into the pan, pour the cooked toor dal.
Mix coriander powder, chilly powder and salt along with water in a small bowl.
Add this paste into the sambar.
Into it, add asafoetida and jeera powder.
In another pan, pour oil.
Splutter fenugreek seeds and mustard seeds.
Add dried red chillies and curry leaves.
Pour this in the cooked sambar.
Tasty special sambar is ready.
