Sathar and his family are excited to show around their brand-new house at Kondotty in Malappuram, Kerala. They were so impressed by a house that was featured on ‘Home Style’ section in Manorama Online that they roped in architect Riyas, who had designed that house, to give shape to their own dream dwelling.
When Sathar purchased the 15 cents plot, a foundation was already there. Modifications were made on this foundation to suit the rectangular plot while designing the structure. The road that leads to the house is quite narrow. So, a wider gate was installed to make the entrance area spacious. Besides, a wicket gate too has been added.
The elevation features a splendid fusion of chic contemporary architecture and elegant tropical style. This makes the house look unique from different angles.
Designed in 3000 sqft, this fabulous mansion has a sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining space, patio, kitchen with an adjacent work area and two bedrooms on the ground floor. Meanwhile, the upper floor has two more bedrooms, living area and a balcony too.
Sliding glass doors in the living and dining areas open to the spacious patio. The tall boundary wall, highlighted with rock claddings, turns this area into an enclosed space that is cosy. Moreover, sitting space too has been arranged in the patio.
The double-height ceiling of the dining area makes this space look incredibly spacious. The simple dining table has Korean stone table top on a wooden frame. The highlighted wall beside the dining table is quite attractive.
The hand railings of the staircase feature the classic combination of wood and glass. Meanwhile, a wall in the upper living area has been turned into the project area of the home theatre.
The vividly decorated kitchen is sure to attract attention. The white colour theme gives a serene ambience to the kitchen. The cabinets, meanwhile, are done in lacquered glass finish that adds an elegant sheen. The countertop has been paved with Korean stone.
The black grey colour theme of the work area complements the kitchen. Besides, a quaint breakfast counter too has been arranged here. Moreover, facilities like an in-built oven makes the kitchen area, incredibly modern and smart.
The show wall in CorTen steel in the balcony is a spectacularly beautiful feature. A mini garden too has been added here to set the ambience.
The bedrooms are designed in unique themes. Attractive and colourful wallpapers and the head side panelling works grant an enchanting charm to the bedrooms. Moreover, all the bedrooms are bath attached and have wardrobes too.
There is a door in the room with the GI truss roof that opens to the spacious terrace area. Interestingly, this area could be easily turned into a multi-utility space, if required, in the future.
This house, with its mesmerizing features and smart designs, has seamlessly overcome the challenges thrown by the unique shape and layout of the plot.
