Special child makes documentary on own life

Kollam: Nine-year-old Nayan has great difficulty in holding a pen but that didn’t deter him from writing two books in English, and holds the record of being the youngest philosopher. This hearing-impaired special child, a resident of from SN Puram in Kollam district, now speaks to the world through the documentary 'Rise Autism', inspired by his own life. He has donned the roles of a scriptwriter and director for the docu film.

Parliamentarian Suresh Gopi launched the documentary at Kollam Rotary Club at 4 pm on Tuesday.

Eminent personalities such as Kerala Governor P Sathasivam, Thiruvananthapuram District Collector Dr K Vasuki and writer George Onakoor feature in the documentary.

Nayan communicates with his parents, C K Shyam and S Priyanka, with the help of a laptop.

His mother was particular that Nayan should be familiar with the computer keyboard. He learnt English all by himself and shortly came up with a poem.

Kerala Sahitya Akademi honoured Nayan for publishing his first book 'Journey of My Soul' at the age of seven. The book was launched by Kerala Education Minister C Raveendranath. A year later, he came up with his second work 'To Fine Universe' which was released by Governor P Sathasivam. The special student of Sai Gramam in Thiruvananthapuram has also penned the story and screenplay for the short film 'Silent in Mobile'.
