The deceased are identified as Randeep (30), son of Orkkatteri native Sankaran and Akshay (26), son of Thottoly Babu from Kunnummakkara. Sreerag, another youth was spotted in weak condition, has been admitted to the Government District Hospital.

After recovering empty syringes from the spot, police suspect that drug overdose could have led to the deaths. The inquest procedures are being carried out under the supervision of Vadakara DYSP and Edachery police. Dog squad, fingerprint, forensic experts have gathered evidence from the spot.

The local residents found the bodies around 8 am on Friday. "The condition of the surviving youth is stable now," Ratheesh, a ward (16th ward) member of Kunnummakkara told Onmanorama.

"The abandoned area where the youths were found dead was a hub of drug users. After local residents intervened, they stopped using the place. We were not aware that the substance abusers continued to access this plot," Ratheesh added.
