Kottayam: A skull and bone fragments were discovered in front of a laboratory at Pulimoodu, near Pallickathodu in Kottayam. The remains, found inside a plastic cover near a private laboratory, were noticed by people cleaning the area.

Local residents alerted the Pallickathodu police on Monday evening, and authorities soon arrived at the scene. The bones have been sent for post-mortem to confirm whether they belong to a human, said CI KP Thomson of Pallickathodu.

Locals said that such a plastic cover was not seen in the area previously, raising suspicion that the remains were recently discarded, he added. The police have conducted an inquest, and the post-mortem will take place at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital.
