Thrissur: Cherpu Circle Inspector (CI) K Pradeep has been suspended in connection with the clash between SFI and KSU activists during the Calicut University D-Zone Arts Festival at Mala, Thrissur. The suspension follows allegations that Pradeep allowed KSU activists to escape in an ambulance after the altercation.

While the Station House Officer (SHO) claimed the ambulance was meant to take injured activists to the hospital, a selfie taken inside the vehicle provided evidence against them. The suspension comes amid criticism that the police failed to control the clash and prevent further violence.

Following the incident, the police initially registered a case against KSU leaders and later against SFI activists. The disciplinary action against Pradeep came after SFI filed a complaint with the Chief Minister, accusing the police of bias in favour of KSU.
