Two Kudumbashree workers, Smitha Raghu and Latha Manakkakudi, died when a hospital wall collapsed in Bengaluru during heavy rain. Their bodies were returned to their native village in Ernakulam for final rites, with injured survivors also receiving support.
One body, which is yet to be identified, has been kept at the Medical College mortuary.
A licence holder for Thiruvambady Devaswom’s fireworks died from severe burn injuries
The tragedy unfolded at a field in Thrissur's Mundothikkode, where Thiruvambady's fireworks for the pooram were being put together.
Devaswom officials have stated they will abide by the government's directive regarding the fireworks display.
The minister noted that the exact number of injured is expected to be confirmed after further searches at the blast site.
Around 40 people were feared injured in a fireworks unit explosion preparing for Thrissur Pooram, with most victims being workers.
Investigations are now focused on how such a lapse could have occurred under the watch of an experienced controller.
As per reports, the plane involved in the incident had an excellent safety record since its first flight in 1995.
Drone footage published by local media showed scenes of devastation in London, with houses leveled and reduced to splinters and tree trunks standing bare.
