No major injuries have been reported after the train derailed at the Beach Station in Chennai.
The commissioning of the track is expected by the end of May.
The Ernakulam-Kollam Memu train via Kottayam will stop at Chottinakara Road, Kanjiramattom, Kaduthuruthy and Kumaranalloor stations from today. The railways said that the ticket sales for the train have begun in these stations.
On the Alappuzha route, these trains will have stops at Ernakulam Junction, Cherthala, Alappuzha, Ambalappuzha and Haripad.
Several trains have been cancelled fully or partially and a few will be running late or diverted on other lines.
Sleeper class bookings for April 13 on the Bengaluru-Kanniyakumari Island Express and the Mysuru-Kochuveli Express were halted due to very long waiting lists.
The Railways has cancelled three trains fully and five partially in view of the maintenance work on the track at Thrissur yard on April 6 and 10.
As many as six rakes of Mangala Express and one rake of Ernakulam-Patna Express were changed to LHB.

Trains in Kottayam route would either be rescheduled or diverted due to track doubling works between Ettumanoor and Chingavanam. Theses restrictions will be in effect from 4 February to 5 March
