In the final played at Wayanad, Kerala United edged Gokulam Kerala 1-0.
Baby Lalchhandami scored a brace for the winners, while Marbarin Nongrum, Antrika and Pristy C A scored one each.
Hosts Kerala are placed in Group A, which consists of heavyweights West Bengal and Punjab. Rajasthan and Meghalaya are the other teams in the group.
Captain Arjun Jayaraj put Kerala United ahead in the 58th minute, while Viknesh M drew level for the last edition's runners-up in the 72nd.
The Kerala Football Association has also appointed Kerala Blasters reserves team coach T G Purushothaman as Bino's deputy.
Sreekuttan, Subha Ghosh and Ayush Adhikari were the goal-scorers for Blasters, while Bujair Valiyattu, Shafnad and Adarsh found the target for United.
Bino's first assignment will be leading Kerala United in the I-League second division. The qualifiers will take place in September.
