The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru which is touted as a premier institute of scientific research in the country has launched a couple of interesting programmes this academic year. The integrated programmes are intended to mould physician-cum-scientists as well as engineers skilled in Mathematics and Computing.

MD – Phd (Integrated programmes): This novel medical research-based programme aims to train scientists who are also physicians. The programme intends to develop state-of-the-art technology in diagnosis and treatment.

The IISc has been awarded a huge sum of Rs 425 crore to set up an 800-bed multi-specialty hospital on the campus by 2024. There would be facilities to hold organ replacement surgeries and robotic surgeries. Regular medical programs like MD, MS, DM and MCH too would be conducted here.

BTech Mathematics and Computing: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Quantum Computing and Computational Biology are part of the syllabus.

Around 52 seats are up for grabs. The selection would be based on the rank scored by the candidate in JEE– Advanced 2022.
