FDDI entrance applications open till April 30th

FDDI or Footwear Design & Development Institute is a professional training institute that offers training for those who want to work in the footwear industry which has been under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry since 1986. It has 12 campuses including Noida, but not one in Kerala. They have excellent infrastructure as well as an efficient placement cell at work.

These are the main programmes one can apply for the 2022-23 entrance.

4-year BDes (Bachelor of Design): Footwear design & production/ Leather lifestyle & product design/fashion design.

3-year BBI: Retail& fashion merchandise.

2-year MDes: Footwear design & production.

2-year MBA: Retail & Fashion Merchandise  

The overall seats from 12 centres: Noida 400, Fursatganj (UP) 120, Chennai 180, Kolkata 180, Rohtak (Haryana) 120, Jodhpur 120, Chindwada (MP) 180, Guna (MP) 60, Angaleshwar (Gujarat) 120, Patna 240, Hyderabad 340, Chandigarh 240. Overall 2300 seats. There are also NRI/Foreign/ Industry sponsored 230 seats. All programmes aren’t available everywhere. For scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, backward, economically backward, and differently-abled will get 15, 7.5, 27, 10, and 3% reservation respectively.  

Minimum qualification

Those who have taken any subject optionally for plus two or those who have passed a 3-year Engineering diploma can apply for Bachelor programmes. 

Though you only require a degree in any subject for MBA for MDes you need a degree in either footwear/leather goods/design/fashion/fine arts/architecture engineering/production technology.

You need to submit your exam results by September 30th. To apply for a bachelor's you shouldn’t be beyond 25 years on July 1st, 2023. For masters, you don’t have an age limit.

Till April 30th you can apply online. The registration fee will be Rs 600. For scheduled caste and differently-abled, it will be Rs 300. You also have the option to remit a late fee of Rs 800 and apply till May 21st. For scheduled caste and differently-abled, it will be Rs 400.

The National level selection tests which will be of 3-hour duration will be conducted at 31 centres that include Kochi, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi on June 18th. The bachelor course will have 150 objective questions. For Master courses, there will be 175 questions. The exam subjects are available on the website.

Those who have scored well in any National level entrance exam needn’t write the Institute-conducted UG/PG All India Selection Test.  The rank will be decided by balancing the percentile score accordingly.

Those who scored high rank in the test will get admission through the counselling conducted in July. You should join the institute during the first week of August. More details are available on the website.
