Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government is finally taking action to ensure timely payment to temporary teachers at public schools.

The Finance Ministry has issued a notification, allowing the Deputy Directors to enter the details of these teachers into the salary distribution software SPARK.

Malayala Manorama had on Wednesday reported that an inordinate delay in the timely completion of the exercise has affected hundreds of teachers. Following this, General Education Minister V Sivankutty intervened in the matter.

Since it was difficult to complete the registration of all the teachers before Onam, the Deputy Education Officers (DEOs) too were entrusted with the task, the minister said.

SPARK denotes Service and Payroll Administrative Repository for Kerala. It is an integrated system for collating information on personnel, payroll, and financial matters of government employees.
