Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's sports drama Dangal, which released on December 23, has been a rage at the box office.

Looking at the latest figures, the film has inched closer to the Rs 300-crore mark, as its total earnings stand at Rs 285 crore on completing 12 days at the box office.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh said Dangal stood out as a "winner".

Earlier, Dangal had minted Rs 197.53 crore at the box office in the opening week, inching close to the Rs 200 crore mark. It had already surpassed what Salman Khan-starrer "Sultan", 2016's highest grosser, collected in its first week.

Sultan, which reportedly registered a Rs 300-crore collection in India, had made Rs 180.36 crore in the first week.

The movie has tugged at the heartstrings of audiences for its powerful portrayal of the tale of Mahavir Singh Phogat, a former national champion, who, much to the disapproval of his wife and village, trained his daughters Geeta and Babita to wrestle.
