Los Angeles: 'Mr. Robot' and 'Mozart In The Jungle' late on Sunday took home the awards for best TV series at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards here.

"Mr. Robot", a thriller about a security engineer who struggles with social anxiety disorder, pipped "Empire", "Game of Thrones", "Narcos" and "Outlander" to win the best television series - drama.

Meanwhile, "Mozart In The Jungle" was lauded in the best television series - musical or comedy category. The show beat "Casual", "Orange is the New Black", "Silicon Valley", "Transparent" and "Veep" to win the honour.

"Mozart In The Jungle" also won actor Gael Garcia Bernal the best performance by an actor in a television series - musical or comedy. He was contending for the award with actors Aziz Ansari, Rob Lowe, Patrick Stewart and Jeffrey Tambor.

Among the actresses in the same category, the trophy was bagged by Rachel Bloom for "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend". She was in competition with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gina Rodriguez and Lily Tomlin.

Jon Hamm and Taraji P. Henson emerged winners in the best performance by an actor and actress in a television series - drama, for their work in "Mad Men" and "Empire" respectively.

The best performance by an actress in a mini-series or a motion picture made for television was won by songstress Lady Gaga for her work in "American Horror Story". She was pitted against Kirsten Dunst ("Fargo"), Sarah Hay ("Flesh and Bone"), Felicity Huffman ("American Crime" and Queen Latifah ("Bessie").

Christian Slater for his performance in "Mr. Robot" was awarded among the actors competing in the same category.

The best performance by an actor in a mini-series or a motion picture made for television went to Oscar Isaac for "Show Me a Hero", and among the actresses, the trophy went to Maura Tierney for "The Affair".

Scoring the Golden Globe Award for best mini-series or motion picture made for television was "Wolf Hall", which was in competition with " American Crime", "American Horror Story: Hotel", " Fargo" and "Flesh Bone".
