Worried about being left in the dark during a power outage? Even if you do not own an inverter at home, here is a bulb that will stay on for close to three hours when there is a power cut. This emergency LED bulb that switches on by itself in the event of a power cut has taken the markets by storm.
The emergency LED bulb looks and functions just like an ordinary bulb. You just need to fix it into the holder and switch it on. As it has a capacity of 7 watts it provides more brightness than a 60-watt incandescent bulb. A special feature of this bulb is that even while it is on and the power goes off, the bulb will remain on. You may also use it only when there is a power cut.
A tiny lithium battery inside the bulb collects and stores up electricity and this is what gets used up when there is a shortage of power. The bulb takes up the power from the main line and uses this to get the batteries charged.
As soon as there is a power cut, the sensor in the bulb gets to work. An automatic diverter present in the diode of the filament takes up the current stored in the battery and uses this to light up the bulb. Such emergency bulbs are especially useful in homes without an inverter.
This emergency LED bulb was introduced to the market by a company called Fiume in India. They have been in the business of automotive lights for the past 40 years. The Magic Bulb costs around Rs. 450 and it comes with a warranty of 1 year.
