Chengannur: Kerala set a new Guinness World Record for the largest 'human Christmas tree' in the world on Sunday at Chengannur.
The 'tree' was made by 4030 people who gathered at the municipality stadium here under the auspices of Mission Chengannur. The attempt broke a record that was set at Honduras in 2014 in which 2945 people took part.
People, including school students, took part in the programme and occupied places at designated spots wearing attires in different colours. Participants entered the stadium at 1 pm and the evaluation was completed at 5 pm. After the event was flagged off by Mission Chengannur chair, Shobhana George, the tree was ‘set up’ in five minutes.
At 5.54 pm, Guinness Book of World Records representative, Praveen Patel announced the record.
