Flash mobs are becoming more popular and are considered to be a tool for propagating social causes.
But a flash mob video of a bunch of college students dancing on Major Lazer and DJ Snake's Lean on at the Payyanur bus stand in Kannur has gone viral for a different reason.
People at the Payyanur bus stand were enjoying the flash mob performance when the students started clapping, giving the impression that the performance was over. But they started dancing a few seconds later.
That is when the drama happened: A woman came rushing from the crowd and slapped one of the girls in the flash mob, stunning onlookers and the performers alike.
Media reports said that the saree-clad woman is the mother of the girl and had hit the girl as she did not approve her daughter's participation in the flash mob. Reports also said the woman scolded the group for holding up traffic. Some others, however, said that the woman was the neighbour of one the participants. While what she said is not clear in the video, she could be seen gesticulating angrily and even raising her hand in warning.
The video has been widely shared on social media. As of now, it has racked up 6000 views.
