Alappuzha cop bashes auto driver on head with helmet, suspended

Alappuzha: Alappuzha District police chief has suspended Crime Branch civil police officer Ashib on charges of assaulting an auto-rickshaw driver and causing injury to his head. The incident occurred on Thursday at around 8.30 pm near Pulayanvazhi junction, Mullathuvalappu.
The altercation began when Ashib's bike collided with an auto. Following an argument, Ashib struck the auto driver, Sunil (47), on the head with his helmet. Sunil sustained seven stitches to his head.
Alappuzha South Police registered a case against him for attempted murder. South Police SHO K Sreejith submitted a report to the District Police Chief M P Mohanachandran, after which Ashib was suspended pending inquiry.
