Even as five jeeps revved up, Antony remained supine, with a towel spread over his abdomen. At 4 pm, Vazhoor Vazhoor Block Panchayat president Balagopalan Nair flagged off the programme, and the jeeps rode over the abdomen of a smiling Antony, one by one.
Currently, the Guinness record for this feat is being held by a European, whose abdomen muscles withstood a 3000-kg vehicle eight times and a four-tonner once.
The Chief Instructor of Okinawa Shorin-Ryu Reihokan Karate Association of India, Antony has been practicing martial arts for the past 33 years.
