Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Law Academy management's attempt to cool off the agitating students by keeping aside Lekshmi Nair from the principal post has opened up a new controversy; this time over the qualifications of the new man at the top post.
As soon as the management decided to hand over the charge of the principal to senior faculty member Madhavan Potti, allegations have cropped up that he is unqualified for the post.

As per university rules, the age limit for a principal is 65, but it is alleged that Potti is 67. While PhD is a must for appointment of a person as principal, Potty does not hold the doctoral degree either.
The academy management on Tuesday handed over the charge of principal to Potti as the students' strike seeking resignation of Lekshmi Nair crossed 20 days. The SFI, the ruling CPM's student wing, has called off the strike following the decision while other student bodies have decided to go ahead with the strike until Lekshmi Nair resigns.
