New Delhi: The fares for the much-awaited Kochi Metro Rail have been announced and all you need Rs is 10 to whiz past the city.
The director board of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) that met in the national capital on Wednesday fixed Rs 10 as the minimum ticket charge. You can travel up to 2 kilometers for Rs 10.
For the entire journey from Aluva to Petta, which is the distance covered in first phase of Kochi Metro, you need to shell outs Rs 60. While you can travel 5 kilometers in metro rail for a Rs 20-ticket, you can cover 15kms for Rs 40 and 20 kms for Rs 50.
Considering the ease of travel and available mode of transport, the fares announced by the KMRL appear to be people-friendly.
The first phase of the metro between Aluva and Ernakukam Maharaja's College is expected to be operational in April next year.
KMRL will give concession for passengers traveling the metro using the Kochi One application, officials said.
The fares were announced by KMRL managing director Eliyas George.
