Late musician Johnson's daughter found dead in Chennai

Late musician Johnson's daughter found dead Shan Johnson, daughter of late music director Johnson, was found dead in a Chennai hotel.

Chennai: Singer-composer Shan Johnson, daughter of late music director Johnson, was found dead at her flat in Kodambakkam near Chennai on Friday. She was 29.

The cause of her death is not immediately known. Her body was taken to Royapettah hospital for post-mortem.

According to sources, her body will be brought to Thrissur after post-mortem on Saturday.

Earlier reports had said that she was found dead in a hotel room.

Shan, a singer by profession, had recorded a song last night and was supposed to continue with the recording on Friday.

Shan used to write and compose songs. She was also a trained vocalist in both Carnatic and Western music.

Shan Johnson had written the Hindi lyrics for a song in Vettah, an upcoming Malayalam film.

She had also sung songs in Malayalam films Praise the Lord and Thira and in a couple of Tamil movies. She also marked her debut as a music composer with the Malayalam film His Name is John.

The news of her death comes as a shock.

Shan's father Johnson, fondly known as Johnson Mash, was a renowned music composer in the Malayalam film industry. He died at the age of 58 on August 18, 2011.

His son Renn Johnson had died in a bike accident in Chennai on February 25, 2012.
