Thrissur: A special investigation team probing the death of Jishnu, a student of Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre in Thrissur, has recommended a police case against five teachers, including the principal, for abetting suicide.
The five against whom action was sought are principal S. Varadarajan, vice-principal K.N. Sakthivel, faculty member C.P. Praveen (who had allegedly caught Jishnu cheating in the exam) and exam cell members – Vimal and Vipin.
Jishnu, son of Ashokan, Nadapuram, was found hanging inside his college hostel in January. Though he was rushed to hospital by friends, they could not save him.
Jishnu was allegedly harassed by the college authorities on charges of malpractices during examination. The management denied the allegations saying they had only advised the student.
The vice-principal and two other staff members were earlier suspended from the college.
A police case under section IPC 306 is expected to be registered against the five soon, Manorama News reported.
