Thiruvananthapuram: Protesting against the 'politics of violence' and demonetization of high-value currency notes, a senior RSS leader and former state secretary of Hindu Aikya Vedi – P. Padmakumar - joined the CPM.
Padmakumar announced his decision to end his 42 years of ties with the right outfits and join the communist party at a press meet in the state capital Sunday.
Padmakumar told reporters here that he had decided to join the ruling CPM in the state as he was fed up with the 'political violence' and 'inhumane stand' of the BJP-RSS.
"How many families have been orphaned due to the inhumane stand and politics of violence of RSS-BJP?" he asked.
"I was against the inhumane attitude of RSS and its politics of violence. The demonetization of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 was the last straw and I decided to quit the outfit," he said.
“My decision is not to make any benefits out of the fact that LDF government is in power now,” Padmakumar added.
CPM Thiruvananthapuram district secretary Anavoor Nagappan said that Padmakumar would be given a prominent post in the party.
"More BJP-RSS workers would be joining the CPM in the coming days," he added.
