Jacob Thomas

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson on Thursday issued show cause notice to DGP Jacob Thomas and ADGP Tomin J. Thachankary asking them to explain their alleged violation of statutes.

The chief secretary has directed the respondents to submit their explanations within 15 days. It was alleged that Jacob Thomas violated service rules by working part-time as a private college teacher. Meanwhile, Thachankery was served the notice for calling a meeting of employees against the minister.

"A vigilance probe has found prima facie evidence against Jacob Thomas. It has been proved that the officer took home as salary, Rs 1,69,000 per month, from the private college," Jiji Thomson said.

Often dubbed as an anti-corruption crusader, Jacob Thomas invited the government's wrath for his revelations regarding the bar case and has ever since been at the receiving end of multiple transfers.
