Kochi: The Syro-Malabar Church has expanded its global reach by forming a diocese based out of Preston in England. Fr Joseph Srambikkal from Pala has been chosen to lead the new diocese.
The Church has also appointed Monseigneur Stephen Chirappanath from Irinjalakkuda as the apostolic visitor for the Syro-Malabar followers in Europe.
The Pope’s letter declaring the appointments was read out in the Syro-Malabar Church headquarters in Mount Saint Thomas at Kakkanad and the St Alphonsa Cathedral in Preston.
