Sabarinath Total 4 U scam accused Sabarinath being escorted by the police (TV grab)

Thiruvananthapuram: The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate court here on Friday will deliver the judgement on a petition filed by Sabarinath, the main accused in the Total 4 U financial fraud scam seeking trial of all cases related to the scam together. The demand was strongly opposed by the prosecution.

As many as 33 cases of misappropriation of money to the tune of crores of rupees were registered by the Crime Branch. But clubbing several cases, nine charge-sheets were filed in all - eight in a court in Vanchiyoor and one in Attingal.

Sabarinath's counsel argued in the court that he has been languishing in jail for the past 22 months and that the trial in the case should be concluded soon. However, the prosecution opposed the plea claiming there was a need for collecting evidence in each of the cases separately.

The government counsel maintained that Sabarinath had committed major frauds though his establishments including Total 4 U. The Magistrate court took up the case, which was lying dormant for the past six years following a directive by the High Court. There were 20 accused in the case including Sabarinath.
