Kottayam: Trains operating via Kottayam will be diverted via Alappuzha on Saturday in view of the track and signal modernisation works at the Vaikom Road railway station as part of track doubling.

Services will be regulated between 9 am and 3 pm, according to the Railways.

All Passenger and MEMU trains that run via Kottayam have been cancelled while several trains will be diverted or detained to take up the work.

Train 16650 Mangalore-Nagercoil Parasuram Express, Thiruvananthapuram-Hyderabad Sabari Express (17229), and Kanyakumari-Mumbai CST Express (16382) will be diverted from Kayamkulam via Alappuzha to Ernakulam.

Train 12626 New Delhi-Thiruvananthapuram Kerala Express starting from New Delhi, and Kannur-Thiruvananthapuram Jan Shatabdi Express (12081) will also be diverted via Alappuzha.

Jan Shatabdi Express will have special stoppages at Alappuzha and Cherthala, while the other diverted trains will stop at Ambalapuzha and Haripad as well, the Railways notified.

Trains fully cancelled

Passenger train in the Ernakulam-Alappuzha-Kayamkulam section which leaves Ernakulam at 10 am and returns from Kayamkulam at 1 pm.

Passenger train starting from Ernakulam Junction at 11.30 am and its return trip from Kayamkulam Junction at 5 pm in the Ernakulam-Kottayam-Kayamkulam sector.

Alappuzha Passenger starting from Alappuzha at 7.05 am.

56380 Kayamkulam-Ernakulam Passenger via Alappuzha starting from Kayamkulam at 8.35 am.

Kollam-Ernakulam-Kollam MEMU via Kottayam, which starts from Kollam at 8.50 am and returns from Ernakulam at 12.20 pm.

Ernakulam-Kollam-Ernakulam MEMU via Kottayam, which starts from Kollam at 7.40 am and returns from Ernakulam at 2.40 pm.

MEMU service between Ernakulam and Kollam via Kottayam which starts from Ernakulam at 5.25 am and returns from Kollam at 11.10 am.

Kollam-Kottayam-Kollam Passenger which starts from Kollam at 8.35 am and returns from Kottayam at 5.45 pm has also been cancelled.

Partial cancellation

Operations of Passenger trains 56365/56366 on the Punalur-Guruvayur route will remain partially cancelled between Edappally and Punalur.

17229 Hyderabad- Thiruvananthapuram Sabari Express will be detained at Piravom Road for 30 minutes, the Railways said.
