Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal on Tuesday wrote an open letter to Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan in his blog 'The Complete Actor', highlighting the perils faced by the people in this state.
Mohanlal began by stating that he was not writing a friendly letter as a superstar to Pinarayi Vijayan, but as layman to the state's chief minister.
He also gave a background about his blog, explaining that he published one entry on the 21st of every month on general issues. The actor reflected that he has received both accolades and brickbats for his monthly writing.
He put forth some of the issues that he believed needed immediate intervention by the CM.
1) Garbage - the menace
Garbage is the root-cause for most of the troubles faced by this state - from the stray dog menace to contagious diseases. We need to find means for proper garbage disposal and punish those who dump waste on the roads.
2) Killer accidents
Scores of people lose their lives on the roads, every day. Stringent rules are the need for the day. We should also look back at Rishiraj Singh's effort to install speed governors for all vehicles that drastically brought down the number of accidents. Whatever happened to that novel initiative?
3) Never-ending traffic snarls
It is becoming a near nightmarish experience to travel on Kerala roads. For hours at a stretch, people are caught in traffic jams. If we don't find a solution, it would be near impossible to get out on the roads with our cars?
4) Children, women - the victims
Women, children and the elderly are the biggest victims of violence in our state. Their welfare and safety need to be taken up as a mission. There is no bigger virtue than this.
5) Guardian of the nature
Your government should also safeguard our evergreen forests. Sadly, we are left with very few greenery. We need to protect our environment, otherwise we would be left with a green memory called Kerala.
The ace actor also assured all help to the Kerala CM in addressing these grievances.
"Kerala expects a lot from you. I wish you and all your colleagues the very best," wrote Mohanlal as he concluded his blog post.
