A wild tusker that had troubled villagers in Wayanad has been caught after a massive operation. The operation started after a government order to capture the elephant was issued.
For this, the tusker's movements were first monitored using a radio collar. It was shot with tranquilizers when it came out of the forest. Four trainer elephants from Muthumala and Muthanga were used to control the sedated tusker. A team of 30 from Valayar forest training center and forest guards from Kerala and Tamil Nadu took part. The defenceless wild tusker was pushed into a waiting truck by the trainer elephants.
