Evolution 2.0: Thirsty king cobra takes water in plastic bottle from forest guards | Video A video posted on YouTube shows wildlife rescue workers giving water to the snake from a plastic bottle. Screengrab

It is the height of symbiotic existence, driven by heat. In a remote Karnataka village, a 12-foot king cobra slithered out of its nest into a human settlement. But unlike what would happen in a usual scenario, when humans tackle this venomous snake with a long stick, some kind-hearted men gave water to the thirsty reptile.

A video posted on YouTube shows wildlife rescue workers giving water to the snake from a plastic bottle and the reptile quenching its thirst in calm demeanor. It doesn't lung at its rescuers.

It is interesting to see the snake, native to tropical rain forests, effortlessly sipping water from the plastic bottle. We wonder whether this an evolution attribute or mere adaptability.

According to officials near the Kaiga power plant area, it is common to offer water when a snake strays into human settlements.

Earlier, reports suggested that severe drought forced the snake to enter human territory. However, it was later established that there was no drought condition in the area and snakes wandering into human habitat is a common occurrence during summers.
