USA-ELECTION/TRUMP

As US president elect Donald Trump's tweets wreak havoc in the stock market, the traders at Wall Street are looking at ways to cash in on the opportunities it would allow. Politico.com that covers politics and policy in the US reported that Trump, who with a single tweet, can change the fortunes of a company is being closely watched by investors.

Recently, Trump's tweet on Lockheed Martin's F-35 fighter jet program resulted in the company losing $4 billion in market value. This and other similar instances have led market watchers to keep a close eye on Trump's tweets to decide where to put their money.

"There are people diligently working to create algorithms for Trump's tweets," a senior analyst with consulting firm KOR Group told Politico. Having an algorithm to interpret natural language may not be that easy as we have noticed with Apple's Siri and Windows' Cortana. This process would be further complicated due to the use of ironies and sarcasm in Trump tweets.

However, if an algorithm is able to crack the relation between Trump's tweets and the way market moves then traders can surely cash in on it.

Previously, a Twitter bot created by an MIT scientist used artificial intelligence to successfully tweet 'remarkably Trump like statements'.
