Striker Jobby Justin scored the first goal for Kerala in the 3rd minute of the match. In the second half, captain P. Usman found the net twice for Kerala - in 57th and 66th minutes.
Earlier, in the first qualifier, Andhra Pradesh beat Karnataka 2-1. There were two penalty kicks awarded to Andhra Pradesh, and their captain T. Chandrasekhar turned both of them into goals. G. Vignesh was the lone scorer for Karnataka.
