A devastating explosion at a firecracker unit preparing for the Thrissur Pooram festival killed at least 13 and injured over 40. The blasts shattered windows and scattered body parts across fields.
One of the recent ones that haunt the memory is the October 2024 fire at Kasargod's Anjootambalam Veererkavu Temple in Nileshwar during the annual Kaliyattam festival, in which over 150 people were injured after a similar explosion in the firecracker storage room.
Addressing the media at the site, district commissioner said a detailed inquiry, including a fire audit and witness statements, was required to establish the reason behind the explosion.
