An incident occurred at Delhi airport on Thursday afternoon when the wings of an Akasa Air Boeing 737 MAX 8 and a SpiceJet Boeing 737-700 aircraft made contact on the taxiway near Terminal 1 around 2:15 pm. The Akasa Air plane was preparing for its flight to Hyderabad, while the SpiceJet aircraft had just arrived from Leh. Both aircraft sustained damage and have been grounded for inspection, though all passengers and crew were safely disembarked from both planes. Akasa Air stated their aircraft was stationary at the time of the contact, while SpiceJet reported damage to its right winglet and the other aircraft's left-hand horizontal stabilizer, with authorities investigating the occurrence.
Akasa Air's entry will benefit private hajj pilgrims, Umrah devotees, and expatriates who rely on Kozhikode airport.
